Facts about Azelaic Acid

• It is found in wheat, rye, and barley.
• Azelaic acid is used to treat mild to moderate acne, both comedonal acne and inflammatory acne.^[6][7] It belongs to a class of medication called dicarboxylic acids. It works by killing acne bacteria that infect skin pores. It also decreases the production of keratin, which is a natural substance that promotes the growth of acne bacteria^[8] 
• ability to reduce inflammation. It clears the bumps and swelling caused by Rosacea. Azelaic acid has been used for treatment of skin pigmentation including melasma and post inflammatory hyperpigmentation, particularly in those with darker skin types. It has been recommended as an alternative to hydroquinone (HQ).^[9] As a tyrosinase inhibitor, azelaic acid reduces synthesis ofmelanin.^[10]
• Azelaic acid should be applied onto clean skin (waiting 20 minutes after washing) for better absorption. You can moisturize afterwards if necessary, but I'd wait at least 20 minutes after application to give it time to absorb. Azelaic acid can also be used during the day (under sunscreen) or night, but it's best used at night since it's a chemical exfoliant and will make your skin more sensitive to the sun.
• Azelaic acid also works well in conjunction with other prescription products. A lot of times, if you need something stronger, dermatologists will prescribe azelaic acid for the morning and Differin or another retinoid at night. You can even use azelaic acid all over and then use a prescription or over-the-counter product as a spot treatment on pimples.
• Azelaic acid is safe to use during pregnancy. So for those who cannot use retinoids, azelaic acid may be a helpful addition to your skin care routine. Those who use retinoids but want something stronger without moving to a stronger retinoid can also consider using azelaic acid.

Facts about Clindamycin

• Topical clindamycin is used to treat acne. Clindamycin is in a class of medications called lincomycin antibiotics. It works by slowing or stopping the growth of bacteria that cause acne and by decreasing swelling. Topical clindamycin works by killing the bacteria that cause acne. It also has anti-inflammatory effects. Usually, you'll start seeing improvement of your skin within 4 to 6 weeks.
• Multiple studies have shown the use of clindamycin in conjunction with benzoyl peroxide, which is available both through prescription or over-the-counter, to be more effective in the treatment of acne than the use of either product by itself.^[7][8][9] A single-blind study comparing this combination to adapalene, a retinoid, also found it to work faster and be significantly better tolerated than adapalene, as well as more effective.^[10]
• Don't just spot-treat individual pimples. No matter what form of clindamycin you’re using, make sure you apply it over the entire area affected by acne.

Facts about Benzoyl Peroxide

• Benzoyl peroxide works as a peeling agent. It increases skin turnover, clearing pores and reducing the bacterial count (specifically P. acnes) as well as acting directly as an antimicrobial.^[5] It may be combined with salicylic acid, sulfur, erythromycin or clindamycin(antibiotics), and adapalene (a synthetic retinoid). BP is also a bleaching agent, so try to keep it away from your eyebrows, hair, and clothes.
• Benzoyl peroxide for acne treatment is typically applied to the affected areas in gel or cream form, in concentrations of 2.5% increasing through 5%, and up to 10%. Research suggests that 5% and 10% concentrations are not significantly more effective than 2.5%, while 2.5% is usually better tolerated, though the majority of major studies comparing it to other treatments use the higher concentrations.^[6][7]
• To keep skin clear of acne, BP has to be used long-term. Once you stop using it, the bacteria colonies come back and breakouts resume. However, unlike antibiotics, the p. acnes bacteria does not develop resistance towards BP.

Benzolac CL

Salah satu brand yang mengandung benzoyl peroxide sebagai active ingredientnya. Macemnya ada banyak, ada yang pure benzoyl ada juga yang combine dengan clindamycin, seperti yang gw beli ini. Nah, sebenernya, seperti yang udah disebut dalam facts diatas, konsentrasi BP yang paling efektif untuk acne treatment adalah 2,5%. Cuma sayangnya di brand Benzolac ini, yang di combine sama clindamycin cuma BP dengan konsentrasi 5%. Yang 2,5% di Benzolac itu berisi benzoyl murni.

Teksturnya lebih ke arah gel daripada krim, thick.

Ujung salepnya dihalangin sama semacem plastik berlubang kecil dengan tujuan biar keluarnya ga gitu banyak, mengingat harus di apply setipis mungkin di kulit. Karena kentel banget, agak susah dipencet.

Zeliris

Mengandung 20% Azelaic Acid murni. Konsentrasi yang efektif untuk acne treatment dan memang Cuma tersedia dalam satu konsentrasi. Meskipun baiknya untuk pemakaian azelaic acid ini bertahap dari yang kecil (10%) dan terus ditambah dosisnya, sampe menemukan yang cocok. Ada brand lain kaya zelface dsb, cuma kebetulan di apoteknya ini yang ada.

Bentuk salepnya kaya salep kebanyakan yang terbuat dari alumunium wadahnya, jadi gampang dikeluarin isinya. Teksturnya lebih ke cream.

Benzolac CL

Oleskan tipis dan merata 1-2 kali sehari pada tempat berjerawat setelah wajah dibersihkan, jangan digunakan dengan cara mentotolkan. Tidak dibenarkan untuk digunakan pada acne ringan.

Zeliris

Sebelum dioleskan, bersihkan kulit yang akan diobati dengan air bersih atau bahan pembersih kulit yang ringan. Oleskan krim pada bagian kulit terinfeksi dua kali sehari. Sebaiknya digunakan secara terusmenerus selama masa pengobatan, pada umumnya perbaikan nyata terjadi kirakira setelah 4 minggu. Harus digunakan teratur selama beberapabulan tetapi tidak lebih dari 6 bulan.

Gw pake ini udah agak lama sebenernya, baru sempet review sekarang. Pakenya dulu waktu gw masih treatment di Griya Geulis. Seperti yang gw tulis di NY’s Quickie :: AcneCare Products ~ Wardah Acne Treatment Gel – Acnes Sealing Jell – Sari AyuIntensive Acne Care – La Tulipe Acne Lotion, gw waktu itu mutusin pake salepsalepan ini karena baru ngeh kalo acne treatment itu berkisar di ingredients ituitu aja. Jadi kenapa ga coba active ingredients murninya aja, mungkin bisa lebih efektif penyembuhannya.

Benzolac CL

Gw pake ini sebagai area treatment, dioles di sekitar jerawatnya juga, yang masih ada rednessnya. Cara pakenya di smear, bukan ditotol, sesuai dengan petunjuk pemakaiannya. Gw pake untuk jerawat aktif, yang masih berbentuk bumps, entah itu keluar matanya atau mendem. Gw apply tiap sore hari, 30 menit setelah cuci muka. Ga berapa lama setelah dioles, di area yang dioles bakal kerasa perih dan sedikit panas. Gw diemin dua sampe tiga jam terus gw cuci muka lagi. Waktu yang diperlukan sampe si bumps hilang itu sekitar tiga sampe empat hari tergantung besar dan tingkat kematangan si acne sendiri. Kalo tepat timing pengolesannya, dua hari bumps udah rata lagi. Ga ada efek terhadap redness.

Zeliris

Kalo bumps jerewi udah reda dan tinggal redness ato acne scar ato acne dark spot, gw pake ini sebagai spot treatment. Pakenya ditotol di spotnya aja, soalnya azelaic acid ini cenderung bikin kulit memerah, terutama untuk mereka yang punya kulit sensitif seperti diriku, haha~ Selain mencegah jerewi, azelaic acid juga punya kemampuan mengatasi hyperpigmentation, tapi tentunya untuk jangka waktu lama. Selama berbulanbulan pemakaian zeliris ini, dark spot post acne gw ga berkurang, tapi redness kadang berkurang kalo amount salep yang dipake tepat, alias super tipis. Kalo ketebelan dikit aja, langsung merah iritasi. Habis ditotol, kulit yang kena bakal langsung kerasa gatelgatel nyelekit. Sama kaya benzolac, gw diemin dua tiga jam terus gw cuci muka lagi. Kalo sampe ga cucimuka, gw biasanya malah bruntusan gatel di daerah yang ditotol, padahal pake benzolac sampe pagi engga kaya gitu efeknya.

Apotek atau toko obat, seharusnya cuma bisa dibeli pake resep dokter, ya tapi maklumlah gimana kondisi negara kita tercinta. I bought mine @ Apotek Merdeka Pasar Baru Bandung.
